Wise Ones Physio Clinic Policies
Make sure you read this before you schedule your first appointment.
Please. Just do it. Make our lives easier.
This clinic is out-of-network.
This means that I don’t take any insurance. I don’t take Medicare. I have zero interaction with any insurance providers, ever. Check out the FAQs for a detailed explanation of why. If you must go through insurance, please see the resources page for clinics in the area that can provide insurance-covered therapy services.
Try not to cancel without notice. Please show up on time. etc. etc.
Listen. We’re all adults here. Life gets in the way, I get it. Respect my time and I’ll respect yours. Please don’t make me instate cancellation fees, turn you away because you show up late, that kind of thing. I don’t like that. It makes me feel bad. Can we not do all that?
I might have to cancel on you sometimes, too. If and when that happens, I will make every effort to give you plenty of notice and to not leave you hanging. I might run a bit behind here and there, but I’ll always give you a heads up and work with you to make sure you get every minute of your scheduled appointment.
So let’s just agree right here and now that we will respect each other’s time, and there won’t be any problems. See? That was so easy!
You are welcome to bring a (human*) chaperone, record, take notes, or do whatever you need to feel comfortable. I promise to always be transparent with every step of your care. Please give me the same courtesy.
Sometimes it’s tough to remember everything that was said in an appointment. And beyond that, PT can be intimidating. Sometimes we deal with very personal, private issues in the realm of chronic pain. For those reasons, I welcome support persons and audio/video recording during sessions. I do ask that you let me know if you’re recording, that way I can speak loudly and slowly enough to provide you with the clearest possible record of your visit. I will also provide you with a hand-written synopsis of every session, including your homework. Visit notes are always available upon request.
If you are uncomfortable, unclear, or for any reason just don’t feel quite right, please communicate with me. I can’t fix what I don’t see, and I can’t help you with problems that I don’t know about. I promise to always be receptive to feedback, and to work with you and your care team to provide the best possible treatment plan for you.
All treatments are thoroughly explained and performed with explicit verbal and written consent, though consent may be withdrawn at any point during treatment.
*Please note that pets and emotional support animals (ESA’s) are not allowed on the property, per the building management’s rules.
When you step into my clinic, please mask up.
This policy isn’t up for debate or discussion, nor is it in place to drive you crazy. It’s there because I care for you and your family. If you are curious about the latest evidence on COVID-19 and masking recommendations, please check the COVID-19 tab on the resources page. What you learn there might surprise you- the pandemic is NOT over, despite what you might have heard.
Come prepared to participate in your care.
I am not here to passively “fix” you. Collaboration is an integral part of this clinic’s care model, and your success depends on your participation. Together, we will find the most sustainable way for you to manage your pain for the long term. And I can’t do it alone.
I expect you to put in as much or more effort in your care as I do. I’m fully invested in you. You need to be fully invested, too.
Your privacy matters.
You will be prompted to sign a privacy consent with your intake questionnaires. If you have any questions at all about how your protected health information (PHI) is handled, do not hesitate to ask. Privacy and security is a top priority.
